Javan Reed Maxedon, known to everyone as Max, passed away Friday, September
15, 2023, in Obion County, Tennessee. Max was born on March 30, 1943, and was
the oldest son of Reeder Henry Maxedon and Audrey Marlene Stanley Maxedon.
He married Karen Larae Roper on April 26, 1963, in Salt Lake City, Utah. They had
five children during their marriage. He was preceded in death by his daughter,
Stacey. He is survived by his wife Karen; children Delreed (Rosemary), Tammy
(Ryan), Jeremy (Amanda), and Jamie; brothers Maxe (Debbie), Alex, and Peck
(Pam); eleven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Max was held in very high regard and a true friend to many. Max will leave a real
sense of loss with his passing and will be greatly missed by his family and many
friends. Max was a natural-born leader and a very unselfish man with his success
in life. He was a man who lived life to the fullest. You could write a novel about
him, his accomplishments, and his adventures, but that would not be his style. He
would have instead shared his stories of adventure with you in person over an
early cup of coffee or an evening scotch and cigar. He served in the military as an
S.F.C. in the U.S. Army Reserve Artillery Unit. He was a businessman, airplane pilot
with over 15,000+ hours, race car driver, avid bird hunter, and world traveler, to
name a few. He will truly be missed by all who loved him.
His life will be celebrated on Thursday, September 21, 2023, from 5:00-7:00 p.m.
at the Century Equipment Co. hangar, 641 North 2300 West #4, Salt Lake City,
Utah.
The family would like to express many thanks to the people who provided care
and comfort in Max’s final days. With special thanks to Amber (T.N.), Stacey
(N.C.), Chrissi (N.C.), and Sherry (T.N.). Thank you also to essential family friends
Doug B. (U.T.), Paul L. (U.T.), and Brian J. (U.T.) for their kindness and support.
