Janie Carol Harper, 88, died on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at West Tennessee Healthcare-Dyersburg Hospital in Dyersburg, Tennessee.
Born on February 8, 1937, in Dyersburg, Tennessee, to the late Wortham Presley and the late Gertie Evelyn Davis.
Janie was 73 years old when she retired as Quality Control Manager from S & R Global in Ripley, Tennessee, where she worked with dedication and pride.
She was truly the matriarch of her family. Her greatest joy came from the times spent with her loved ones. Her eyes would light up the moment her grandchildren and great-grandchildren entered the room, and she rarely missed the chance to be present at their games, school events, or activities. Among her fondest memories were the large Sunday family dinners of years past—times filled with laughter, togetherness, and her unforgettable cooking.
Known for her good old-fashioned country meals, Janie had a special gift in the kitchen. Her chocolate pie was a family favorite and a treasured tradition at many gatherings. When not cooking in her own kitchen, she loved visiting Reelfoot Lake and enjoying a good fish supper.
Beyond her love of family and food, Janie found joy in music of all kinds, especially gospel and country. She was a woman of faith who enjoyed watching preaching on television, and she held a deep admiration for Billy Graham.
