James Thomas "Tommy" Cribbs, 79, of Dyersburg, Tennessee died peacefully on Monday, May 18, 2020, at his home, as he wished, surrounded by his children and beloved pets.
Born Saturday, August 31, 1940 in Dyersburg, Tennessee, he was the son of the late John Nolen Cribbs and the late Rachel Kizer Cribbs. Mr. Cribbs served as Chief Deputy under his father, Sheriff John N. Cribbs before becoming Dyer County Sheriff from 1976 until 1985.
A celebration of life graveside service for Mr. Cribbs will be1:00 PM on Saturday, May 23, 2020 at RoEllen Cemetery in RoEllen, Tennessee. Officiating this service will be Rev. Calvin Smith. Family and friends are asked to gather at the cemetery..
He is survived by one son, John Thomas "Johnny" Cribbs of Dyersburg, Tennessee; one daughter, Jennifer Cribbs O'Sullivan (Ted) of Dyersburg, Tennessee; one grandson, John Eric Kahl , the mother of his children, Eva Jane Harness Cribbs of Norton, Kansas and his brother-in-law, Ed Thornton of Brentwood, Tennessee.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Joann Cribbs Thornton.
Honorary pallbearers will be Brock Barr, Joe Prichard, Todd Cotten and Frankie Harris.
