James Thomas Glisson, 84, of Dyersburg, Tennessee died on Saturday, November 21, 2020 at his residence in Dyersburg, Tennessee.
Born Thursday, February 20, 1936 in Crockett County, Tennessee, he was the son of the late William Glisson and the late Bertha Alford Glisson. Mr. Glisson retired from Colonial Rubber after thirty-three years of service before his employment with the Dyersburg City School System as a custodian. He was a member of Northside Church of Jesus Christ.
Funeral services for Mr. Glisson will be held at 1:00 PM on Sunday, November 22, 2020 at the Northside Church of Jesus Christ. Officiating this service will be Pastor Ray Winstead. Interment will follow in Church Grove Cemetery in Newbern, Tennessee. Visitation will be Sunday from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM at the Northside Church of Jesus Christ.
He is survived by his wife, of forty-seven years, Sue Burnett Glisson of Dyersburg, Tennessee; one son, Steve Carroll (Renee) of Dyersburg, Tennessee; three daughters, Patricia Faye Glisson (Robert) of Dyersburg, Tennessee, Karen Sellers (Mark) of Murfreesboro, Tennessee and Robin Parker (Jodie) of Dyersburg, Tennessee: brother, William Glisson (Bobbie) of Union City, Tennessee; four sisters, Billie Moody of Dyersburg, Tennessee, Reba Anderson of Dyersburg, Tennessee, Betty Pugh (Donald) of Newbern, Tennessee and Sandra Lee of Union City, Tennessee; seven grandchildren, Cory Glisson, Jada Paschal, Kyle Paschal, Jerica Carroll, Jalynn Carroll, Travis Parker and Dallas Parker, four great-grandchildren, Noah Ledbetter, Mallory Ledbetter, Gabby Glisson and Conner Glisson and was honorary "Grandaddy" to Busy Bees Preschool students, for over twenty-three years.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one son, Scott Glisson; two sisters, Lucille Matlock and Vera Mae Casey. one brother, Finis Glisson and one son-in-law, Stacy Harris.
Honoring Mr. Glisson as pallbearers will be Cory Glisson, Kyle Paschal, Steve Carroll, Robert Sims, Jonathan Holmes, Travis Parker, Dallas Parker and Noah Ledbetter.
