James Marvin Fair, known to most as Marvin, 93, of Obion, Tennessee died on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at Baptist Hospital in Union City, Tennessee.
Born Monday, April 11, 1932, in Dyer County, Tennessee, he was the son of the late James Henry Fair and the late Susie Esther Davis Fair. He was a hardworking man whose life was marked by dedication to his work, strong faith, and deep love for his family.
Marvin was a skilled construction worker who spent much of his career with Pioneer Construction and Forcum Lannom. He took great pride in being a part of significant projects, including the expansion of I-55 across the Mississippi River Bridge and the development of the Great River Road. After retiring from the construction industry, Marvin continued his service to the community through his work with the Dyer County Highway Department.
A man of strong faith, Marvin was a devoted Baptist and lived his life guided by his religious beliefs. He was known for his, quiet strength, and unwavering values. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, often finding peace and joy on the water.
Marvin was married to the love of his life, Mary Sue Webb Fair, for 54 years until her passing in 2003. Marvin and Mary Sue shared a special bond, one that found joy not only in their daily life but also on the dance floor. They both enjoyed line dancing and spent many happy hours together, building cherished memories and making friendships along the way. It was a pastime that brought them happiness and laughter and was a meaningful part of their life together. He deeply loved his family and cherished the time spent with them. His legacy is one of hard work, faithfulness, and quiet devotion to those he love.
Graveside services for Mr. Fair will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, June 20, 2025, at Hurricane Hills Cemetery. Officiating this service will be Mr. Patrick Williams. Family and friends are asked to gather at the cemetery.
He is survived by one son, Mark Fair of Obion, Tennessee; one daughter, Margo Brown (Ray) of Dyersburg, Tennessee; three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Sue Webb Fair; one daughter, Pamela Gail Rainey, his grandson, James Christopher Bevis; two brothers and one sister.
