James "Larry" Baker Obituary

James "Larry" Baker, 78, of Newbern, Tennessee, died on Friday, June 24, 2022, at West Tennessee Healthcare-Dyersburg Hospital in Dyersburg, Tennessee.

Born Friday, December 24, 1943, in Dyersburg, Tennessee, he was the son of the late J. R. Baker and the late Willie Beatrice Anderson Baker. He was a retired maintenance supervisor for Dyersburg Fabrics.  Mr. Baker was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ and was a member of East Dyersburg United Methodist Church. He was a former member of the Forked Deer Antique Car Club.

Funeral services for Mr. Baker will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, June 27, 2022, at Hillcrest Baptist Church located at 825 Hillcrest Avenue in Dyersburg, Tennessee. Officiating this service will be Rev. Jim Pilcher. Interment will follow in Dyer County Memorial Gardens.  Visitation for Mr. Baker will be held from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Monday at Hillcrest Baptist Church.

He leaves to cherish his memory,  his wife of thirty-five years, Judy Barron Baker of Newbern, Tennessee; one son, James "Ross" Baker (Amie) of Dyersburg, Tennessee; one daughter, Renee Childress (Scotty) of Dyersburg, Tennessee; one step-son, Brian Betts of Atlanta, Georgia; two step-daughters, Kim Bradley (Ed) of Bartlett, Tennessee and Jennifer Gilliam of Lebanon, Tennessee and he was "Grand-Daddy Larry" to his seven grandchildren, Jessica Taylor (Andy), Erica Stephens, April Childress, Caleb Bradley (Kara),Garian Dobson, John Ross Baker and Xavier Currie and seven great-grandchildren, Madalyn Taylor, Sydney Taylor, Lacey Taylor, Marlee Dozier, Lottee Dozier, Declan Stephens and Emmett Bradley.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Willie Joan Maas.

Honoring Mr. Baker as pallbearers will be John Ross Baker, Scotty Childress, Caleb Bradley, Garian Dobson, Brian Betts and Andy Taylor. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Maas and John Rausch
