James H. Smith

James H. Smith, 80, of Friendship, Tennessee died on Thursday, August 6, 2020, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, Tennessee.

Born Sunday, April 14, 1940 in Greene County, Arkansas, he was the son of the late William Henry Smith and the late Hazel Marie Morgan Smith Rucker. He was a retired employee of Murray Guard Company. Mr. Smith was a trustee and member of Miller's Chapel Church of Jesus Christ.

Funeral services for Mr. Smith will be held at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, August 11, 2020 in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating this service will be Pastor Jeff Smith. Interment will follow in Sorrell's Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 11, 2020 from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Due to the current conditions and the health and welfare of others, the family asks that anyone in attendance please wear a mask.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of fifty-nine years, Ann Howell Smith of Friendship, Tennessee; two sons, Jeff Smith (Amanda) of Dyersburg, Tennessee and Michael Smith (Brandy) of Dyersburg, Tennessee; two daughters, Judy Burns (Greg) of Dyersburg, Tennessee and Connie Hargrove (James) of Friendship, Tennessee; one-daughter-in-law, Ann Smith of Dyersburg, Tennessee; one sister, Manerva Seagraves of Walnut Ridge, Arkansas; eighteen grandchildren and twenty-seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one son, Ricky Smith;one brother, Eugene Smith; one sister, Shirley Frame and two grandchildren, Kayleigh Grace Smith and David "Trey" Willard, III.

Honoring Mr. Smith as pallbearers will be Darren Hargrove, Preston Hargrove, Dylan Smith, Landon Smith, David Willard, II and Aaron Smith. Honorary pallbearer will be Paul Clark.
