James David "Bear" Tate , 77 of Dyersburg, Tennessee died on Friday, October 8, 2021, at West Tennessee Healthcare-Dyersburg Hospital in Dyersburg, Tennessee.
Born Monday, October 18, 1943 in Joplin, Missouri, he was the son of the late Coy Alton Tate and the late Emmer Burnine Tate. Mr. Tate was a retired employee of the United Postal Service and former truck driver. He was a member of The Little Country Church and enjoyed fishing.
Funeral services for Mr. Tate will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at The Little Country Church located at 213 B. Street in Dyersburg, Tennessee. Officiating this service will be Bro. Royce McGuire. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until 1:00 on Tuesday at The Little Country Church. Interment will follow in Pierce Cemetery in Trimble, Tennessee.
He is survived by two sons, Michael Tate (Melinda) of Riverside, Texas and Terry Cook (Angie)of Dyersburg, Tennessee; two daughters, April Tate and Jewell Denise Tate both of Jacksonville, Texas; two brothers, Alton Tate of Gleason, Tennessee and Joseph Coy Tate of McKenzie, Tennessee; thirteen grandchildren, Carolyn Hudgins, Eli Cook, Tevin Reither, Micha Tate, Michaela Tate, Tyllie Tate, Haven Tate, Shawn Valenzuela, Michelle Phillips, Paula Hallaway, Johnathan Hallaway, John Hallaway and Albert Hallaway and four great-grandchildren, Bella Valenzuela, Beckam Valenzuela, Balley Valenzuela and Opie McCarley.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred Cooper and Shirley Griffin and one brother, Joseph Daniel Tate.
Honoring Mr. Tate as pallbearers will be Billy Hackle, Johnny Jones, Harold Mallard, Lynn Mancell, Larry Winters and Jonathan Anderson.
