James Allen Luft, 82, of Lenox, Tennessee, died on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at his residence in Lenox, Tennessee.
Born Sunday, June 7, 1942, in Bell Fourche, South Dakota, he was the son of the late Ferdinand Luft and the late Elizabeth Pfaff Luft. Mr. Luft proudly served his country in the United States Army. He retired from Hexpol in Dyersburg, Tennessee after more than thirty years of employment. He was a member of the Al Chymia Shrine Temple and a member of the Dyersburg Hess Lodge# 93. Mr. Luft will be remembered for his portrayal of Santa Claus at the Dyersburg Walmart, local daycares and many Christmas Parades. He was a member of the New Life Outreach Church.
Graveside services for Mr. Luft will be held at 2:30 on Friday, November 8, 2024, at Sorrell Chapel Cemetery near Dyersburg, Tennessee. Officiating the service will be Bro. Kelly Lock. Family and friends are asked to gather at the cemetery.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Katherine "Kat" Lyon Luft of Lenox, Tennessee; three daughters, Lori Ann Ham of Dyersburg, Tennessee and Dee An Coats (Eric) of Dyersburg, Tennessee and Brandy Lyn Lovell (Jeffery) of Bogota, Tennessee; two sons, Chris Coker (Holly) of Dyersburg, Tennessee and Manuel Todd Coker (Amber) of Dyersburg, Tennessee; three step-sons, Scott Copeland (Nona) of Bonicord, Tennessee, Steven Copeland (Debbie) of Chandler, Arizona, and Stanley Copeland (of Dyersburg, Tennessee; two brothers, Ferdinand Luft (Sharon) of California and Kevin Luft of California; one sister, Jill Coburn of Halls, Tennessee and he was "PaPaw" to his eleven grandchildren; six great grandchildren and one great grandchild.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one great-grandchild, Nala Ann Elder and one granddaughter, Dakota Barnes.
Honoring Mr. Luft as honorary pallbearers will be Eric Fleming, Hunter Perkins, Chris Coker, Todd Coker, Justin Elder, Jeffery Lovell, Jeremey Jones, Jeff Ham, Jarred Jones, Ray Moser, Mike Coker, and Gary Cole.
