Imogene "Jean" Sipes, 94, of Dyersburg, Tennessee died on Sunday, February 21, 2021, at Harborview Nursing Home in Dyersburg, Tennessee.
Born Monday, June 7, 1926 in Dyer County, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late George Alison Garrison and the late Lula Asbridge Garrison. Mrs. Sipes was a retired employee of GTE Sylvania and Methodist Hospital of Dyersburg, Tennessee. She was the oldest member of Glendale Church of Christ and a lifelong member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary.
Funeral services for Mrs. Sipes will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating this service will be Bro. Serge Shoemaker and Bro. John Stacy. Interment will follow in Dyer County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.
She leaves to cherish her memory, two sons, Benny Sipes (Sharon) of Dyersburg, Tennessee and Mike Sipes of Dyersburg, Tennessee; one daughter, Vanice Parker (Larry) of Springville, Tennessee; three sisters, Martha Campbell of Dyersburg, Tennessee, Dorothy Phillips of Dyersburg, Tennessee and Barbara Hampton of Dyersburg, Tennessee; eleven grandchildren, Beverly Reed, Kim McIntyre, Patty Maenhoudt, Rhonda Daniels, Mark Sipes, Brett Sipes, Andy Anderson, Chris Sipes, Scott Sipes, Chad Sipes and Emily Nicks; nineteen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas C. "Jap" Sipes; two daughters, Tommye Jean Coffman and Patricia Hinson; four brothers, George Garrison, Jr., Otis Garrison, Hayward Thedford and J. C. Thedford; two sisters, Nora Lock and Sue Hall and one great-grand-daughter, Stacy Watford.
Honoring their grandmother as pallbearers will be Mark Sipes, Brett Sipes, Andy Anderson, Chris Sipes, Scott Sipes and Chad Sipes.
