H. Parks Thurmon Obituary

H. Parks Thurmon, 89, of Dyersburg, Tennessee died on Friday, June 12, 2020, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, Tennessee.

Born Sunday, February 1, 1931 in Obion County, Tennessee, he was the son of the late James E. Thurmon and the late Ira Wilson Thurmon.

Mr. Thurmon was the retired store manager of Sherwin-Williams Paint in Dyersburg, Tennessee. He was a Minister of the Gospel presently serving the RoEllen Church of Christ.

Given current national conditions and the family's concern for the health and well-being of others, the family requests that you remain in your car for a drive-by visitation to be held Sunday, June 14, 2020 from 1:00 PM until 3:00 P.M. on the premises of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Private graveside services will be held at a later date.

He is survived by his wife of 67 Years, Polly CrouseThurmon of Dyersburg, Tennessee; one son, Larry Parks Thurmon (Patsye) of Clinton, Tennessee; six grandchildren, Jason Watkins, (Courtney), Brandon Thurmon (Saneta), Michael Thurmon (Kelley), Shane Thurmon (Stephanie), Drew Thurmon and Alli Thurmon, a sister by choice, Karyn Ziegler (Don) of Wichita, Kansas and a special niece, that he referred to as his angel, Wanda Ray of Dyersburg, Tennessee

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one daughter, Martha Ruth Watkins; one son, David E. Thurmon; five brothers, Melvin Thurmon, Earl Thurmon, Hurtle Thurmon, J. E. Thurmon and Roy B. Thurmon and five sisters, Regina Marshall, Ruth Hailey, Jewel Pigg, Angela Seaton and Wilma Wybrew.

Honoring Mr. Thurmon as pallbearers will be Jason Watkins, Brandon Thurmon, Michael Thurmon, Shane Thurmon, Drew Thurmon and Cole Watkins. Honorary pallbearers will be Terry Seaton, Jeff Green, G. Wendell West and Dr. Ralph Reynolds.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be directed to the American Heart Association, 1818 Patterson Street, Nashville, Tennessee 37203.
