Grace Louise "Sally" Harrison Obituary

Grace Louise "Sally" Harrison, 94, of Dyersburg, Tennessee, died on Friday, January 24, 2025.

Born Sunday, March 30, 1930, in Iuka, Mississippi, she was the daughter of the late William Homer Johnson and the late Ophelia Edith Arnold Johnson. The second youngest of thirteen children that would become a family known for music legends.  From an early age, she exhibited determination, kindness, and love for life that would leave a lasting impact on all who knew her.

Her journey began humbly, taking her first job as a retail clerk to pay for her high school graduation expenses-a testament to her work ethic and commitment to personal growth. As a young lady, she often sang and played guitar on local radio stations with her brothers.  She later moved to California with her husband who was serving in the Navy, where she worked as a switchboard telephone operator, showcasing her adaptability.

In later years, she settled in Sweetser, Indiana, where she joined Amana Corp. in Converse, Indiana.   As a supervisor, she dedicated 11 years to her work, earning the respect and admiration of her colleagues before retiring to Dyersburg, Tn. where she continued to work as a pink lady at Dyersburg Methodist Hospital.

Beyond her professional achievements, Sally was a vibrant spirit who truly enjoyed life.  She found joy in family gatherings, travel, the company of her many friends for game night on Thursdays, and the simple pleasures of everyday moments.  Those closest to her affectionately called her "Sally," a name that evoked warmth, fun and love.

Sally was a devoted member of Southside Baptist Church, where her faith was central to her life. She served as a Sunday School teacher, inspiring others with her wisdom and compassion, and sang in the church choir, sharing her love of music.
