Geraldine Kimbrough Howard, 83 of Newbern, Tennessee died on Sunday, August 20, 2023, at AHC of Dyersburg in Dyersburg, Tennessee.
Born Friday, March 22, 1940, in Tuscumbia, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late John Calvin Kimbrough and the late Lucille Grissom Kimbrough. Ms. Howard was a retired clerk at Dyersburg State Community College and a former employee of Forcum Lannom for thirty years where she worked in accounts payable. Ms. Howard was one of ten children and loved her family dearly. She raised her five children to be respectful and hard workers. She was a great cook and would give her last dime to help someone else. Ms. Howard was a member of the Phillips St. Church of Christ and the Relay for Life Cancer Survivor Team.
Graveside services for Ms. Howard will be held at 12:30 on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at Fairview Cemetery in Newbern, Tennessee. Officiating the service will be Bro. Andy Brewer. Visitation for Ms. Howard will be from 11:00 AM until 12:15 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.
She leaves to cherish her memory, three sons, James Edward Howard of Dyersburg, Tennessee, Gary Robert Howard (Diane) of Nashville, Tennessee and Kevin Ray Howard of Franklin, Tennessee; two daughters, Laura Gail "Howard" May (Robert) of Newbern, Tennessee and Janice "Howard" Carroll of Newbern, Tennessee. She was "Grandma" and "Mamaw" to her ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. One sister, Edith Carol Friend of Orlando, Florida, and other survivors include longtime friends, Kay Hendrix, Ollie Turner, Pat Moore, and Teresa Hill.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her six brothers, J.C. Kimbrough, Johnny Kimbrough, Thurman Kimbrough, Gerald Kimbrough, Sonny Kimbrough, and Bill Kimbrough and two sisters, Frances Jones, and Maxine Lovelace.
Honoring Ms. Howard as pallbearers will be Dusty Prichett, Blake May, Robert May, Kody Howard, Scott Lovelace, Harold Kimbrough, Tommy Kimbrough, and Tyler Jackson. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Prichett, Brock May, Will Fountain, Shaw Fountain, and Jeremy Thompson.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be directed to the Dyer County Community Cancer Fund, 620A Mall Blvd., Dyersburg, Tennessee 38024.
