George Thomas Tate

George Thomas "Pookey" Tate, 76, of Dyersburg, Tennessee died on Saturday, December 26, 2020, at West Tennessee Healthcare-Dyersburg Hospital in Dyersburg, Tennessee.

Born Tuesday, July 25, 1944, he was the son of the late Thomas Tate and the late Ruth Neal Tate. Mr. Tate was a retired painter and former custodian for Dyersburg High School. 

Graveside services for Mr. Tate will be held 2:00 PM on Monday, December 28, 2020 at Fairview Cemetery in Newbern, Tennessee. Officiating this service will be Pastor William Turnbo. Visitation will be Monday from 1:00 PM until 1:45 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.

He is survived by one daughter, Tammy Tate Manis of Illinois; two sisters, Frances Turnbo(John) of Dyersburg, Tennessee and Louise Reeve of Illinois; six grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Tate.

Honoring Mr. Tate as pallbearers will be his family members.
