George C. Harrison, Jr.

George C. Harrison, Jr., 78, of Newbern, Tennessee died on Saturday, February 13, 2021, at Weakley County Nursing Home in Dresden, Tennessee.

Born Saturday, July 11, 1942 in Dyersburg, Tennessee, he was the son of the late George Calvin Harrison, Sr. and the late Elizabeth French Harrison. He graduated from Dyersburg High School and the University of Mississippi with a Chemical Engineering degree. Mr. Harrison was a Lieutenant in the United States Navy and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. After working as a chemical engineer for Central Soya in Fort Wayne, Indiana, he returned home to farm and to be a landowner.

He leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, Cathy Binder (John) of Oak Ridge, North Carolina and Mary Beth Fortner of Martin, Tennessee; one brother, Charles “Jeff” Harrison of Martin, Tennessee, and two nieces. He was “Grandpa” to his three grandchildren, Samantha Harrison, Jacob Binder, and Benjamin Binder.

Graveside services for Mr. Harrison will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, April 9, 2021 at Fairview Cemetery in Dyersburg, Tennessee. Officiating this service will be Larry Joe Maupin. Family and friends are asked to gather at the cemetery.
