Geneva Muncrief, 90, of Dyersburg, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at Oakwood Community Living Center in Dyersburg. Born on November 23, 1934, in Madill, Oklahoma, she was the beloved daughter of the late Virgil Jack Shan and the late Avanelle Shan.
Mrs. Muncrief devoted her life to caring for others, both professionally as a caregiver and personally as a loving mother, grandmother, and friend. Her nurturing spirit, unwavering faith, and deep love for her family made her “Maw Maw” to everyone who knew her. She always put others before herself, showing compassion and strength.
She is survived by her son, Ricky Muncrief (Ivy) of Dyersburg, Tennessee; her daughter, Becky Burkeen (Bobby) of Carlsbad, New Mexico; her brother, Jackie Shan of Texas; and her sister, Kiva Freeman of Georgia. Geneva was a proud grandmother to ten grandchildren: Angie Muncrief- Middlebrook, Allan Burkeen, Brian Burkeen, Amanda Smith, Patrick Harvey, Jonathan Muncrief, Crystal Little, Rachel Butler, Brandon Burkeen, and Kevin Muncrief. She also leaves behind nineteen cherished great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, October 27, 2025, in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home, with Pastor Patrick Harvey officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Dyersburg. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM prior to the service.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, O.C. Muncrief; her son, Randy Muncrief; her daughter, Deborah Harvey; her brother, Edgel Shan; and her sisters, Eva Dobyns and Mary Cotton.
Pallbearers honoring Mrs. Muncrief will be Parker Ray, Noah Muncrief, Josh Dallas, Dalton Muncrief, Jadyn Harvey, and London Little. Honorary pallbearers include Bristol Burkeen and Owen Muncrief.
