Garland Eugene Evans, Sr.

Garland Eugene Evans, Sr., 84,  of Dyersburg, Tennessee, died on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at AHC of Dyersburg in Dyersburg, Tennessee.

Born Wednesday, October 11, 1939, in Dyer County, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Wilton C. Evans and the late Opal Alene Chandler Evans.  Mr. Evans was a retired employee of Dyersburg Fabrics in Dyersburg, Tennessee, and a member of Three Oaks Baptist Church.  

Funeral services for Mr. Evans  will be held at 4:00 PM on Friday, April 12, 2024, in the Chapel Of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.  Officiating the service will be Bro. Bill Phipps.  Interment  will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Newbern, Tennessee.  Visitation for Mr. Evans will be held from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home in Newbern, Tennessee

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Maggie Wade Evans of Dyersburg, Tennessee;  five sons, Garland Evans, Jr. of Dyersburg, Tennessee, Michael D. Newman of Halls, Tennessee, Ricky L. Newman (Anna) of Alamo, Tennessee, Jeff Evans (Rhonda) of Dyersburg, Tennessee and Patrick Evans of Newbern, Tennessee; two sisters, Wanda Sadler of Dyersburg, Tennessee and Wilda Conner of Dyersburg, Tennessee; and fifteen grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded on death by one daughter, Daphane Alene Yance; one sister, Geneva Duty and two brothers, Talmadge Evans and Benjamin Evans.

Honoring Mr. Evans as pallbearers will be Jeff Evans, Patrick Evans, Michael D. Newman, Ricky Newman, Ricky DeSpain and Nathan Andresen. Honorary pallbearer will be Steve Anderson.
