Eugene "Gene" Sykes

Eugene "Gene" Sykes, 83, of Dyersburg, Tennessee died on Thursday, December 31, 2020, at his residence in Dyersburg,Tennessee.

Born Thursday, January 28, 1937, in Lenox, Tennessee, he was the son of  the late Oscar David Sykes and the late Margaret  Walton Crocker.  Mr. Sykes was a self-employed plumber.  He was a member of Rehoboth United Methodist Church.

Funeral services for Mr. Sykes will be held at 3:00 PM, Sunday, January 3, 2021,at Rehoboth United Methodist Church. Officiating this service will be Rev. Dan Tilly and Pastor David Richards. Interment will follow in Rehoboth Cemetery in Dyersburg,Tennessee.   Visitation will be from 1:30 PM  until 3:00 PM at Rehoboth United Methodist Church on Sunday, January 3, 2021.

He is survived by his wife, Kathirene Pugh Sykes of Dyersburg, Tennessee;  one son, Larry Sykes of  Dyersburg, Tennessee; two sisters, Charlene Hampton of Palm Springs, California and Sonda Bishop (Jamie) of Dyersburg, Tennessee; two brothers  Charles "Sonny" Sykes (Patsy), of Newbern, Tennessee and James Sykes of Dyersburg, Tennessee; two grandchildren, Katie James (Justin) and Brian Sykes (Sarah) and two great-grandchildren, Rebecca Sykes and Gracie Smother.

In addition to his parents he  was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Walker and one brother, George Larry Sykes, 

Honoring Mr. Sykes as pallbearers will be Steven Agee, Steven Craig, Lynn Parker, Mike Ladd, Justin James and Philip Ray.  

The family asks that memorial contributions be directed to Rehoboth United Methodist Church, 225 Rehoboth Church Road, Dyersburg, Tennessee 38024.
