Emma Jean Simpson, 100, of RoEllen, Tennessee died on Sunday, November 10, 2024, at her residence in Newbern, Tennessee.
Born Monday, February 11, 1924, in Dyersburg, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the Late Claude William Pilgrim and the late Inez Bailey Pilgrim. Mrs. Simpson was a retired employee of Bellsouth, Sylvania, and Wal-Mart. She was a faithful member of the RoEllen Baptist Church for many years. Mrs. Simpson was devoted to her family and the times that she cherished the most were those spent making special memories with her family and friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Simpson will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, November 14, 2024, in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating the service will be Bro. Terry Simpson and Bro. Kevin Sellers. Interment will follow at Rehoboth Cemetery in Newbern, Tennessee. Visitation for Mrs. Simpson will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.
She leaves to cherish her memory, one son, Barry Simpson (JoAnn) of RoEllen, Tennessee; three grandchildren, Lori Denae Simpson of Clarksville, Tennessee, Holly Nicole Simpson of Huntsville, Alabama, and Kaitlyn McKenzie Simpson of RoEllen, Tennessee; one great granddaughter, Ashlee Vaughn and three great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Woody Simpson; one son, Danny Joe Simpson; one sister, Robbie Sue Tucker; two brothers, William Pilgrim and Junior Pilgrim and a great-grandson, Chase Hunter Austin.
Honoring Mrs. Simpson as pallbearers will be Jason Simpson, Steve Simpson, Steve Agee, Jimmy Hopgood, Jason McClain and Jesse Simpson. Honorary pallbearers will be Van Simpson and Tim Owens.
