Elmer A. "Bill" Goodman, Jr., of Newbern, Tennessee died on Sunday, January 5, 2025, at AHC of Dyersburg in Dyersburg, Tennessee. He was 77; a day shy of his 78th birthday.
Born Monday, January 6, 1947, in Crockett County, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Elmer Andrew Goodman, Sr. and the late Jettie B. Lumley Houk. Bill lived much of his life in Virginia before returning to Dyer County to be near his Tennessee family. A proud career man, Mr. Goodman served with distinction in the United States Army for more than twenty years. His unwavering commitment to his service was not merely a vocation but a profound calling that shaped his character with honor and dignity.
Cremation services for Mr. Goodman are under the direction of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.
He is survived by two sons, David Andrew Goodman and Matthew James Goodman, one sister, Barbara Ann Harames of Newbern, Tennessee and grandchildren, nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Susan Carol Hunter Goodman; two sisters, Kathy Sisk and Brenda Tate and one brother, Ronnie Joe Goodman.
