Douglas Lynn "Doug" Clifton, 66, of Roellen, Tennessee died on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at his residence in RoEllen, Tennessee.
Born Wednesday, August 6, 1958, in Salem, Illinois, he was the son of the late Archie Ray Clifton and the late Maxine Brubaker Clifton. Mr. Clifton was a certified Scuba Diver specializing in search and rescue while working as an EMT in Marion County, Illinois. Salem, Illinois was his home before moving to Dyersburg, Tennessee with World Color Press. For many years, Doug dedicated his career as Press Room Supervisor at World Color. His genuine kindness and unwavering support were the hallmarks of his work ethic, earning him the respect and affection of those that knew him in the professional setting. Outside of work, Doug was known as one of the best horsemen around. Being with his family brought him much joy and they also shared his love for horses and the outdoors. He was a dedicated member of the Newbern Saddle Club, a lifetime member of the National Wildlife Federation and member of the NRA.
A Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Clifton will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, December 21, 2024, in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating this service will be Mr. Shannon Walker, Mr. Phillip Jackson, Mr. Braxton Farrow and Mr. Todd Newell. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, of thirty-nine years, Deitra Clifton of Dyersburg, Tennessee; four daughters, Hayli Clifton of Dyersburg, Tennessee , Kayci Clifton (Kaje Adams)of Dyersburg, Tennessee, Maxyi Clifton (Todd Newell) of Dyersburg, Tennessee and Shelbi Clifton of Dyersburg, Tennessee; a son by choice, that he loved as his own, Phillip Jackson (Lindsey) of Dyersburg, Tennessee; two sisters, Tracey Clifton of Fort Myers, Florida and Debra Sumner of Plainfield, Illinois and he was "Papa" to his three grandchildren, Liam Clifton, Gabiel Newell and Elijah Newell and he was "Pops" to his grandchildren, Mason Jackson, Cameron Jackson and Chase Jackson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Billie Ray Garden and one nephew, Cameron Garden
