DUE TO THE HIGH TEMPERTURES FORCASTED FOR THURSDAY MRS. PHILLIPS FUNERAL SERVICE WILL BE HELD IN THE CHAPEL OF JOHNSON-WILLIAMS FUNERAL HOME AT
11:00 AM ON THURSDAY.
Dorothy Lee Phillips, 91, of Dyersburg, Tennessee, died on Monday, August 21, 2023, at her residence in Dyersburg, Tennessee.
Born Monday, August 15, 1932, in Dyer County, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late George Alison Garrison and the late Lula Asbridge Garrison. Mrs. Phillips was a former housekeeping employee of Methodist Hospital of Dyersburg and a devoted member of Phillips Street Church of Christ.
Graveside services for Mrs. Phillips will be held at 11:30 AM on Thursday, August 24, 2023, at Dyer County Memorial Gardens. Officiating this service will be Bro. Andy Brewer. Visitation for Mrs. Phillips will be held from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Thursday at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.
She leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter, Jennifer Caton (Kyle) of Dyersburg, Tennessee; two sisters, Martha Campbell of Dyersburg, Tennessee and Barbara Hampton of Dyersburg, Tennessee; son-in-law, Jimmy Whitt of Dyersburg, Tennessee and she was "Merv" to her four grandchildren, Jason Shawver (Diane) of Fisher, Indiana, Scott Shawver (Melissa) of Newbern, Tennessee, Martin Caton (Emily) of Newbern, Tennessee and Madyson Caton of Henderson, Tennessee; two step-grandchildren, Pamela Whitt of Newbern, Tennessee and Jimmy Lynn Whitt of Newbern, Tennessee; eleven great grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Loyd Berl Phillips; one daughter, Perilynne Whitt; four brothers, George Garrison, Jr., Otis Garrison, Haywood Thedford and J. C. Thedford and three sisters, Nora Lock, Sue Hall and Imogene Sipes.
Honoring Mrs. Phillips as pallbearers will be her nephews, Glen Campbell, Greg Campbell, Tracy Garrison, Jeff Ingram, Pat Owens and David Zarecor. Honoring Mrs. Phillips as honorary pallbearers will be her nephews, Benny Sipes, Mike Sipes and Billy Hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask that memorial contributions be directed to Phillips Street Church of Christ, 912 Phillips Street, Dyersburg, Tennessee 38024 or the Dyer County Community Cancer Fund, P. O. Box # 1055, Dyersburg, Tennessee 38024.
