Dorothy Cook Ferguson

Dorothy Cook Ferguson, 87 of Newbern, Tennessee died on Monday, October 29, 2018, at her residence in Newbern, Tennessee.

Born Tuesday, March 31, 1931 in Obion County, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Sam Edward Cook and the late Maggie Lee Heskett Cook. She was the valedictorian of the 1949 class of Trimble High School. Mrs. Ferguson was a homemaker.

Graveside services for Mrs. Ferguson will be 12:00 PM on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at Fairview Cemetery in Newbern, Tennessee. Officiating this service will be Rev. James Combs. Friends are asked to gather at the cemetery.

She is survived by two sons, Dallas Ferguson of Newbern, Tennessee and Rickey Ferguson (Beverly) of Trimble, Tennessee; one daughter, Brenda Ferguson House (Larry) of Dyersburg, Tennessee; five grandchildren, Larenda House Fultz (Syd), Wesley House Garrett (Jim), Aime Ferguson Whittle (David), Chris Smith and Magan Ferguson Browning (D. J.) ;eight great-grandchildren, Austin Richardson, Aron Whittle, Shelby Fultz Bonasera, Suzanne Fultz, Nathan Garrett, Macy Garrett, Aiden Browning and Rylan Browning and two caregivers, Fannie Jones and Rebecca King.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Ferguson; one daughter, Doneta Ferguson; one grand-daughter, Leigh Anne House; two brothers, Marvin Cook and Wayne Cook and one sister, Polly Pope.

Pallbearers will be David Whittle, Aron Whittle, Austin Richardson, Chris Smith, Nathan Garrett and Syd Fultz. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Murray, Donnie Scobey and Steve Crawford.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be directed to Alzheimer's Association, 225 North Michigan Ave, 17th Floor, Chicago, Illinois 60601-7633.
