Dorothy Anderson

Dorothy Sue Anderson, 95, of Dyersburg, Tennessee died on Monday, August 8, 2022, at West Tennessee Healthcare-Dyersburg Hospital in Dyersburg, Tennessee.

Born Friday, November 26, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Tolbert Poole and the late Gladys Poole. Mrs. Anderson was an educator for many years; teaching at Jenny Bell School Elementary School. Dyersburg Junior High and Dyersburg High School before continuing her career as a Profeesor at Dyersburg State Community College, University of Tennessee at Martin, Mississippi State and Troy State University. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dyersburg, Tennessee.

Graveside services for Mrs. Anderson will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 13, 2022. Officiating this service will be Rev. Mike Hickman. Family and friends are asked to gather at the graveside.

She leaves to cherish her memory, two sons, Johnny Hughen of Dyersburg, Tennessee and Wesley Hughen (Betty) of Ooltewah, Tennessee; one daughter, Susan Millaway (Frankie) of Georgetown, Tennessee; one sister, Frances Sumner of Oakton, Kentucky; three grandchildren, Debbie Garner (Danny), Mary Ellen Markel (Chris) and Brian Hughen (Cassie); six great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two husbands, John Hughen and Roscoe Anderson; one sister, Mary Katherine Roth, one brother, Charles Poole and a grand-daughter, Ashley Jones.
