Doris Jean Inman McManis passed away peacefully on May 23, 2025, in her home in Paris, TN. She was the wife of Billy Mac McManis (retired MSgt. USAF) who was with her when she passed. Doris was known by all who knew her as a loving and precious woman who loved God first, her husband, family and friends. She was passionate about her Bible study group, opera music, exploring the world with all its rich history, having her family around her, and going to garage sales. Anyone who knew her knew she loved big earrings, always wore her red lipstick, loved strawberries and being a homemaker/mother. Doris never met a stranger or a stray fur baby she did not take in under her wing especially her sidekick, Johnny Cash, her dog. Many times, Doris would sacrifice her own desires for her family without missing a step. She was a member of the TVCC Church in Paris TN.
Doris is survived by her husband Billy M McManis of 71.5 years of marriage after being married in Corinth MS in 1953; her children Toney James, Billy Ray, Dorothea (Sissie) Jane, Robert Edward, and Christopher Alan McManis; her 12 grandchildren and her 16 great grandchildren. She was the daughter of Ed and Edith Inman of Newbern TN.
Serving as pallbearers are her sons Toney, Billy R, Robert, and Chris McManis as well as Cass Ballard, who was always considered part of the family, and her grandson Richard Shankle.
Funeral services will be held at Johnson Funeral Home, 207 W Main, Newbern TN on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, with visitation 11-1 and burial at 1:30. She will be buried in the Pierce Cemetery in Trimble TN. Officiating the funeral will be Pastor Michael Lineberry of Oak Grove Baptist Church and Carlton Gerrell of Tennessee Valley Community Church.
There will be a gathering at the Trimble Community Center after the burial. Food will be served.
