Donnie L. Scobey

Donnie L. Scobey, 74, of Newbern, Tennessee died on Sunday, September 5, 2021, at Baptist Hospital in Union City, Tennessee.

Born, September 22, 1946, in Dyer County, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Willie W. Scobey and the late Lessie Fitzgerald Scobey. He retired from the Army National Guard with the rank of Master Sergeant on September 20, 2006. He always had a passion for farming and enjoyed those days on the farm after his retirement.  Mr. Scobey was a member of the Dyersburg Moose Lodge and the Newbern Moose Lodge.

Funeral services for Mr. Scobey will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating this service will be Dr. Rick Isbell and Mr. Patrick Williams. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Newbern, Tennessee. Visitation for Mr. Scobey will be held on Tuesday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.

He leaves to cherish his memory, two sons, Barry Scobey (Connie) of Newbern, Tennessee and William "Billy" Scobey (Jennifer) of Obion, Tennessee; one daughter, Cindy Pledge (Jackie) of Newbern, Tennessee, three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Minnie Maclin Scobey; two brothers, Johnnie Scobey and Glen Marshall Scobey and one sister, Rebecca Austin.

Honoring Mr. Scobey as pallbearers will be Jeff Austin, David Scobey, Alan Scobey, Chad Williams, Andy Butler and Chad Murray. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Moore, Clint Scobey, Joe Wayne Heathcott, Shorty Warren and Richie Cannon.
