Donald Eugene Leggett Obituary

Donald Eugene Leggett, 90, of Dyersburg, Tennessee, died on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at his residence in Dyersburg, Tennessee.

Born Monday, April 16, 1934, in Canton, Ohio, he was the son of the late Theodore Roosevelt Leggett and the late Laura Louise Pollen Leggett.

Mr. Leggett was a dedicated and hardworking man who took immense pride in his craft.  He built a career as a Tool and Die marker, spending many years with Harris Corporation, where he contributed to the development of satellite tracing stations--work that helped shape the future of space communications.

A proud veteran of the United States Army, Donald served his country with honor and carried that same dedication and discipline into every aspect of his life.  His love for the outdoors led him to spend countless peaceful hours fishing, and he was never happier than when he had a rod in his hands and a quiet lake before him.

Donald was a gifted woodworker, creating beautiful and intricate pieces that will be cherished by his family for generations. He had a talent for turning raw materials into works of art.

Above all he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.  His steady presence, wisdom, and warm smile will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Private family committal services for Mr. Leggett will be held at Fairview Cemetery in Newbern, Tennessee.

He leaves to cherish his memory, one son, Doug Leggett (Debra) of Sebastian, Florida; one daughter, Kimberley Smith of Dyersburg, Tennessee; one stepdaughter, Cindy Majusick (Mike) of Centerville, Ohio: one brother, David Leggett of Bradenton, Florida; one sister, Kathryn Collett of Fellsmere, Florida; four grandchildren, Amy Boling, Joshua Smith, Felicia Ruehman and Dakota Terry and three great-grandchildren, Elsie, Edith and Everly Terry.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Matilda Faye Long Leggett; one son, Gary Leggett; one brother, Kenneth Leggett and two sisters, Jane Perrin and Helen Gray.
