Dessie "Dee" Gaskins Hammersley

Dessie "Dee" Gaskins Hammersley, 86, of Dyersburg, Tennessee died on Monday, March 9, 2020, at AHC of Dyersburg in Dyersburg, Tennessee.

Born Friday, July 14, 1933 in Dyer County, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Leeroy "Pappy" Holland and the late Edna Mai "Mammy" Brown Holland. She was a home-maker and former employee of All-Wear Manufacturing and the Dyer County Office on Aging. Mrs. Hammersley was a former member of the Eastern Star, VFW, Women of the Moose and Eagles Club. She attended the First Christian Church in Dyersburg, Tennessee.

Funeral services for Mrs. Hammersley will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, March 13, 2020 in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating this service will be Pastor Zach Bennard. Interment will follow in Rehoboth Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home..

She is survived by one son, Greg Gaskins (Brenda) of Newbern, Tennessee; one daughter, Karen Bishop (Perry) of Dyersburg, Tennessee; one brother, Lee Holland (Laverne) of Dyersburg, Tennessee; four grandchildren, Wade Gaskins (Barbara), Brian Gaskins (Michelle), Austin Gaskins (Amy) and Blake Ellis; four step-grandchildren, Tyler Bishop (Keli), Preston Bishop (Morgan), Nevin Bishop and Jack Bishop and one great-grandson, Reid Walker Gaskins, who will join the family in July.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her two husbands, Virgil Gaskins and David Hammersley; two sons, Dennis Wayne Gaskins and Charles "Chuck" Gaskins; one brother, Joe B. Holland and four sisters, Louise King, Mary Owens, Sammie Davis and Edith Roberts.

Honoring Mrs. Hammersley as pallbearers will be Blake Ellis, Austin Gaskins, Adam Featherston, Miles Holland, Casey King and Bryce King
