Dennis Wayne Beatty Obituary

Dennis Wayne Beatty, 74 of Dyersburg, Tennessee died on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Okeena Health and Rehabilitation of Dyersburg in Dyersburg, Tennessee.

Mr. Beatty was born in Dyersburg, Tennessee, on September 15, 1950, to the late Melvin David Beatty and the late Lavata Willis Beatty. He spent his life dedicated to his family, career, and community. He was known for his generous spirit, keen sense of humor, and ability to bring joy to those around him. 

Dennis and his wife, Helen, made their home in Memphis for nearly fifty-five years before settling in Newbern, Dyer County, Tennessee. 

Dennis was the former President of the Optimist Club of Bartlett, where he worked to support youth and community programs. A passionate basketball coach, he dedicated over twenty years to coaching AAU Basketball, mentoring young athletes and fostering their love for the game. 

Among his many interests, Dennis had a unique passion for raising and breeding guppies, which he meticulously bred for show and shipped to enthusiasts across the country. His knowledge and dedication to this craft brought him great joy.

Dennis was a faithful member of the Glendale Church of Christ. Dennis will be deeply missed.

Funeral services for Mr. Beatty will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating this service will be Bro. Serge Shoemaker. Interment will follow in Zion Cemetery in the Cloverdale Community. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of fifty-four years, Helen Ballow; one son, Mark Beatty (Randi) of Memphis, Tennessee; one brother, Gerald Beatty (Dedi) of Decaturville, Tennessee and he was "Papa" to his four grandsons, Jonathan Beatty, Jordan Beatty (Anna), Jalen Beatty (Alisia) and Joshua Beatty and three-grandchildren, Gracie, Maverick and Madden.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Linda Elaine Beatty.

Honoring Dennis as pallbearers will be members of the Glendale Church of Christ.
