Denise Barker

Denise Barker, 70 of Dyersburg, Tennessee died on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee.

Born on August 13, 1954, in Dyersburg, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Calvin Ray "Bud" Fussell, and the late Pearl Hall Fussell. Mrs. Barker was a dedicated employee of First Citizens National Bank, for fifty-one years, serving as Vice President and Manager of the Green Village Branch in Dyersburg, Tennessee. She was known for her remarkable work ethic and commitment to excellence. Throughout her career, she built many lasting friendships and made a positive impact on those that she worked with.  Mrs. Barker was a board member of the Dyersburg Housing Authority.

Funeral services for Mrs. Barker will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, December 8, 2024, in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating this service will be Rev. Nathe Ozment. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Newbern, Tennessee. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.

She is survived by her son of choice, David Barker (Cindy) of Dyersburg, Tennessee; two brothers, Calvin Fussell, Jr. of Newbern, Tennessee and Steve Fussell (Ava) of Hornbeak, Tennessee; four step-grandchildren that she loved as her own, Ben Barker, Anna Barker, Allie Barker and Tracy Ratliff and host of many friends that loved her dearly.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Roy Barker.

Honoring Mrs. Barker as pallbearers will be Jacob Fussell, Neal Doss, Jeff Fain, Johnny Shaw, Shaft Haynes and Anthony Goosinow.
