Delores Ann Ayers

Delores Ann Ayers, 70, of Newbern, Tennessee died on Monday, September 9, 2024, at West Tennessee Healthcare-Dyersburg Hospital in Dyersburg, Tennessee.

Born Saturday, January 16, 1954, in Dyersburg, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Hazel Calvin Griffin and the late Mattie Lee Cullifer Griffin.  Mrs. Ayers was a former guard at Fort Pillow-West Tennessee State Penitentiary in Henning, Tennessee.

Cremation services for Mrs. Ayers are under the direction of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.

She leaves to cherish her memory, one son, James Paul Ayers of Virginia; one daughter, Jennifer Daugherty of Memphis, Tennessee; one brother, Calvin Griffin (Louise) of Dyersburg, Tennessee; one sister, Peggy Jean Jones of Dyersburg, Tennessee; nieces, Donna Hill of Finley, Tennessee, Jenny Jones of Memphis, Tennessee, Tracy Elgin of Dyersburg, Tennessee, Sondra Hastings Owsley of Dyersburg, Tennessee, Carol Leigh Griffin of Ashburn, Virginia, Carrie Griffin Monica, of Baton Rouge, LA, Katie Edner, of Lafayette, LA, Laura Lee Denton, and Caleigh Griffin; four nephews, Steve Griffin of Dyersburg, Tennessee, Keith Griffin of Atoka, Tennessee, Danny Jones of Millington, Tennessee and Randy Jones of Olive Branch, Mississippi and five grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, William Griffin, Ricky "Grif" Griffin and Lonnie Griffin, and one sister, Diane Hasting.
