David Lynn Townson Sr.

David Lynn Townson, Sr., 63, of Dyersburg, Tennessee, died on Friday, April 14, 2023, at his residence in Dyersburg, Tennessee.

Born Monday, August 17, 1959, in Dyersburg, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Joe Howard Townson and the late Burma Ree Smith Townson. Mr. Townson was the lead supervisor at Arcosa Marine Products in Caruthersville, Missouri. The times that he enjoyed the most were those spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. Townson will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 25, 2023,  in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating the service will be Rev. Calvin Smith and Bro. Perry Grills. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Dyersburg, Tennessee. Visitation for Mr. Townson will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Monday, April 24, 2023, at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home in Newbern, Tennessee. 

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of forty-three years, Susan Hendren Townson of Dyersburg, Tennessee; two sons, David Townson, Jr. (Amanda) of Atoka, Tennessee and Joseph Townson of Dyersburg, Tennessee; one daughter, Jennifer Grills (Andy) of Newbern, Tennessee; one brother, James Townson (Anita) of Atoka, Tennessee; his mother-in-law, Carolyn Hendren of Dyersburg, Tennessee and he was "PawPaw" to his eight grandchildren, Erin Townson, Jacob Townson, Molly Townson, Kloye Townson, William Thomas Townson, Hazel Townson, Nolan Grills, and Sydney Grills.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Michael Schussler and his father-in-law, Sidney Hendren.

Honoring Mr. Townson as pallbearers will be Barry Cottrell, Richard Goodale, Terry Quick, Micah McPherson, Larry Forsythe, Kenny Townson, and Neal Wall. Honorary pallbearers are Jacob Townson, William Thomas Townson, Nolan Grills.
