David Carroll Fowlkes, 80, of Newbern, Tennessee died on Monday, November 18, 2024, in Newbern, Tennessee.
Born Wednesday, January 26, 1944, in Milan, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Marshall Carroll Fowlkes and the late Sarah Garner Fowlkes. Mr. Fowlkes was a dedicated officer for the Dyersburg Police Department. He began his career with the department when he was twenty-one years of age and retired when he was sixty years of age, serving with honor for forty-one years. He was a member of the Cool Springs Cumberland Presbyterian Church and the Fraternal Order of Police.
Graveside services for Mr. Fowlkes will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at the Cool Springs Cemtery. Family and friends are asked to gather at the cemetery.
He leaves to cherish his memory, one son, Curtis Fowlkes (Lisa) of Newbern, Tennessee; one daughter, Virginia Troutt (Jon); one sister, Myla Rae Griffin of Newbern, Tennessee and he was "Pawpaw" to his six grandchildren, Josh Fowlkes, Carley Troutt, Elizabeth Fowlkes, Tatum Troutt, Lori Sawyer and Caleb Sawyer and soon to join the family in February, one great-grandchild, Josiah.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Keating Fowlkes and one sister, Suzanne Hall.
