David Akers, 79, of Menglewood,Tennessee died on Tuesday, April 21, 2020, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, Tennessee.
Born Saturday, December 7, 1940 in Benton County, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Jewel Madison Akers and the late Margie Marie Johnson Akers. He was a retired employee of Jere Kirk Excavating.
Given current national conditions and the family's concern for the health and well-being of others, private graveside services, immediate family only, will be held at Zion Cemetery in Elbridge, Tennessee.
He is survived by his wife of sixty two years, Matha Dale Sanderson Akers of Menglewood, Tennessee; five sons, James Akers of Ridgely, Tennessee, Roy Akers of Dyersburg, Tennessee, Jimmy Akers of Finley, Tennessee, Jewell Edward Akers of Dyersburg, Tennessee and David Scott Akers (Leeann) of Lane, Tennessee; two daughters, Judy Biggs (Kevin) of Cat Corner, Tennessee and Cindy Reasons (Alan) of Hayti, Missouri; two brothers, Bob Akers (Wanda) of Valparaiso, Indiana and Jessie Ray Akers (Michelle) of Manchester, Tennessee; one sister, Tina Hale of Trenton, Tennessee; sixteen grandchildren and thirty-one great-grandchildren,
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, George Akers, Charlie Akers and Frank Akers.
