Darqueta Rines

Darqueta Rines, 90, of Newbern, Tennessee died on Sunday, July 5, 2026, at Dyer Nursing Home in Dyer, Tennessee.

Born Saturday, February 8, 1936, in Oklahoma.

Mrs. Rines spent many years in Manteca, California, where she built a career that reflected her strong work ethic and love for people. Throughout the years, she worked soldering electric circuit boards, drove a school bus, later became a tour bus driver, and concluded her career driving a city bus. She took great pride in every position she held and was known for her dependability and friendly spirit.

In 1992, she and her husband, Allen, returned to Newbern to begin a new chapter of life. She quickly embraced her Tennessee roots and became actively involved in the community. She was a faithful and devoted member of Center Church, where her faith continued to grow. She also enjoyed serving alongside friends through several community organizations, including the Newbern Lions Club.

Darqueta shared a beautiful love story with her husband, Allen. Married for fifty-four years before his passing in 2010, they truly enjoyed life together. In their younger years, the adventurous couple spent their summers water skiing until their growing family led them to discover a love for camping. They both enjoyed riding motorcycles, and Darqueta proudly rode her own. For a time they belonged to a motorcycle club before choosing to explore the open road on their own.

As life changed, so did their adventures. They traded tents for a motorhome and spent countless weekends and vacations traveling together. Their children fondly remember that whenever a three-day weekend arrived, the motorhome would be packed by Friday evening, often heading to beautiful Lake Tahoe. Their love for travel continued throughout their marriage as they explored destinations across the United States and into Canada, creating memories that lasted a lifetime. They also celebrated special anniversaries with unforgettable trips, including a cruise for their twentieth anniversary and a vacation to Hawaii for their thirtieth.

After retiring and returning to Tennessee, Darqueta and Allen continued traveling in their motorhome while enjoying the peaceful life they had built together. They raised horses for a time, and Darqueta loved riding until deciding it was time to retire from horseback adventures as well. She also found great joy in music and loved spending time line dancing with friends.

Darqueta was never one to spend much time in the kitchen or shopping, a fact she jokingly admitted. As her three daughters grew older, they happily took over many of those household chores, creating memories that became treasured family stories.

Above all, Darqueta loved her family. She embraced every season of life with enthusiasm, whether traveling to a new destination, making lifelong friends, serving her church and community, or simply enjoying time with those she loved. She will be remembered for her adventurous spirit, warm heart, unwavering faith, and the many miles she traveled with the love of her life by her side. Her legacy of love, laughter, and living life to the fullest will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.

Funeral services for Mrs. Rines will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, July 10, 2026, at Center Church located at 3900 Edgewood Road Newbern, Tennessee. Officiating this service will be Bro. David Turner. Interment will follow in Center Cemetery. Visitation for Mrs. Rines will be held on Friday from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM at Center Church.

She leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters, Pattie Rines of Mantecka, California and Sheila Rines of Dyersburg, Tennessee; two sisters, Delinda Glenn of Morrison, Illinois and Melissa Leon of Maryville, California; one brother, Vern Glenn of San Francisco, California and she was "Grandma" to her four grandchildren, Jessica, Tiffany, Carissa and Kyle and six great-grandchildren, Logan, Isabelle, Alyssa, Kayden, Karsen and Kamren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-four years, Ray Rines;two sons, Bobby Rines and Gerald Rines; one daughter, Ginger Rice; one grandson, Thomas Nicholas Rines and one great-grandson, Mason.

Honoring Mrs. Rines as pallbearers will be Joe Wilson, Barry Garrison, Kayden Weldon, Kamren Weldon, Ray Frealy and Pete Carpenter.
