Daren Gene Hill

Daren Gene Hill, 62, of Newbern, Tennessee, died Monday, May 11, 2026, at West Tennessee Healthcare-Dyersburg Hospital in Dyersburg, Tennessee.

Born on September 27, 1963, in Dyersburg, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Raymond “Buddy” Hill and June Hickman Hill. Daren was a retired truck driver and the owner of Newbern Tire Center in Newbern, Tennessee, where he was known for his hard work, honesty, and willingness to help anyone in need.

Daren spent many years working as a truck driver before purchasing Newbern Tire, where he became well known throughout the community and formed many lasting friendships. Through his hard work, kind spirit, and willingness to help others, he earned the respect and friendship of countless customers and friends over the years.

A faithful member of Parr Avenue Church of Christ in Dyersburg, Daren also held a special place in his heart for the RoEllen Church of Christ community. He was a straight-forward man who always spoke honestly, so you always knew where you stood with him. Beneath that strong exterior was a generous heart—he would gladly give the shirt off his back to help someone else. One of the greatest examples of his love and compassion was the way he welcomed Owen Grear into his life and loved him as his own son.

Funeral services for Daren will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, May 15, 2026, in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home with Bro. Scott Owen officiating. Interment will follow at Center Cemetery in the Edgewood community. Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.

He is survived by his loving wife, Cindy Jackson Hill of Newbern, Tennessee; his sons, Brent Hill (Jenny Scott) of Brownsville, Tennessee and Owen Grear (Kim) of Ripley, Tennessee; daughter, Bethany Petrie (Danny) of Newbern, Tennessee and granddaughter, Kasey Rae Hill, Graylee Petrie, Raelyn Petrie, Izzy Helms, and Stella Scott.  He also leaves his beloved dog, Presley.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Ray Hill.

Honoring Daren as pallbearers will be Brent Hill, Owen Grear, Danny Petrie, Jr., Grant Montgomery, Doug Robertson, Robert Akers, and Caleb Burton. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Martin, Vick Burns, Bennie Leach, Colby Hall, Bubby Perry, and James Thornton.
