Danny Ray Sawyer, 65, of Dyersburg, Tennessee died on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at West Tennessee Healthcare-Dyersburg Hospital in Dyersburg, Tennessee.
Born Monday, December 28, 1959, in Dyersburg, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Olan Ray Sawyer and Harriette Hendren Sawyer.
Danny was a lifelong resident of Dyersburg, Tennessee, where he developed a strong work ethic from an early age. While attending high school, he worked at Sawyer's Union 76, continuing there after graduation before pursuing his passion for law enforcement. He then attended the police academy, where he trained to serve and protect his community.
Following his graduation, Danny began his career with the Dyersburg Police Department before joining the Dyer County Sheriff's Department. After his tenure with the sheriff's department, he transitioned into private investigation, becoming a self-employed investigator.
In his younger years, Danny found great joy spending time at Kentucky Lake, where he loved boating and water skiing. He also had a passion for the outdoors and enjoyed squirrel hunting. When he wasn’t in the woods, he could often be found watching NASCAR, or cheering on his favorite team, the Atlanta Braves.
Danny will be remembered for his unwavering sense of duty, his kindness, and his ability to bring people together.
