Danny Earl Evans, 85, of Dyersburg, Tennessee, died on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at his residence in Dyersburg, Tennessee.
Born Wednesday, April 12, 1939, he was the son of the late Essay Daniel Evans and the late Edna Earl Pierce Evans. Mr. Evans was a retired shipping manager for Dyersburg Fabrics before joining his son's business at Dyersburg Glass and Overhead Door. He was a faithful member of the RoEllen Baptist Church. Mr. Evans was a devoted husband, father and grandfather; his greatest joys were spending time with his family making special memories.
Funeral services for Mr. Evans will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, September 13, 2024, in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating this service will be Rev. Johnny Michael and Rev. Kevin Sellers. Interment will follow in RoEllen Cemetery in RoEllen, Tennessee. Visitation will be Friday from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, of sixty-six years, Mary Alice Hopgood Evans of Dyersburg, Tennessee; three sons, Shane Evans (Lori) of Newbern, Tennessee, Scotty Evans (Cristy) of Friendship, Tennessee and Daniel Evans of Newbern, Tennessee ; he was "PePaw" to his eight grandchildren, Jillian Sherrod (Terry), Josh Thomas (Yayoi), Austin Evans (Audrey), Madison Campbell (Andy), Ali Evans, Cade Evans (Lauren), Ethan Evans and Drew Evans and four great-grandchildren, Addyson Sherrod, Aven Sherrod, Tucker Campbell and Greta Thomas.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his half-brother, Billy Tinkle.
Honoring Mr. Evans as pallbearers will be Austin Evans, Cade Evans, Drew Evans, Ethan Evans, Terry Sherrod, Aven Sherrod and Andy Campbell. Honorary pallbearers will be Clifford Hopgood, Jimmy Hopgood, Terry Adkins and Tony Evans.
The family asks that memorial contributions be directed to RoEllen Baptist Church, % Mrs. Jane Hicks, 1821 Jim Bowie Road, Dyersburg, Tennessee 38024.
