Clarence C. Cowan Obituary

Clarence C. Cowan, 75, of Newbern, Tennessee, died on Monday, February 5, 2024, at his residence in Newbern, Tennessee.

Born Saturday, July 24, 1948 in Marsing, Idaho, he was the son of the late Virgil Cowan and the late Rosa Robison Cowan.  Mr. Cowan was a retired truck driver.  He was a member of Christ Church Baptist Fellowship in the Millsfield Community. Mr. Cowan proudly served his country in the United States Navy.

Funeral services for Mr. Cowan will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, February 9, 2024, at Christ Church Baptist Fellowship, located at 5774 Millsfield Highway, Dyersburg, Tennessee 38024. Officiating this service will be Bro. Jeremy Ballinger. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Newbern, Tennessee. Visitation will be held Thursday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM and on Friday from 1:30 PM until 3:00 PM at the Christ Church Baptist Fellowship.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of  thirty-nine years, Cindy Stewart Cowan of Newbern, Tennessee; two sons, Michael Cowan of Senath , Missouri and John Hensley (Brandy) of Dyersburg, Tennessee; four daughters, Susan Fessler of Hillsboro, Missouri, Renee McCallister of Newbern, Tennessee, Tiffany Alexander (Tate) of Findlay , Ohio and Tennie Asher (Chad) of Newbern, Tennessee; five brothers, Chester Cowan (Joyce) of Jacksonville, Florida, Charles Cowan (Julie) of Vandalia, Missouri, Eric Cowan (Mari) of Paragould, Arkansas, John Cowan (Linda) of Springfield, Missouri and Greg Cowan of Lebanon, Missouri; four sisters, Ginger Baker of Bernie, Missouri, Debi Hooper of Friedheim, Missouri, Lois Gregory (Terry) of Clarkton, Missouri and Barb Nichols (Mike) of Malden, Missouri and he was "GrandPa" and "Poppy" to his eighteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren with two additional to join the family soon.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Tonya Stewart; four brothers, Delmar Cowan, Virgil Cowan, Richard Cowan and Robert Cowan and two sisters, Ruby Bryant and Vivian Moore.

Honoring Mr. Cowan as pallbearers will be Mike Cowan, John Hensley, Jason  Stewart, James "Bo" Stewart, Larry Gibson and Chad Asher.
