Cherry L. Davis, 88, of Newbern, Tennessee, died on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at Dyersburg Health and Rehabilitation Center in Dyersburg, Tennessee.
He was born on November 21, 1936, in Yorkville, Tennessee, to the late Malcolm Davis and the late Dorothy Spitzer Sibley. He lived a life filled with love, dedication, and service.
On April 9, 1960, Mr. Davis married the love of his life, Linda, and together they shared sixty-four wonderful years of marriage, building a home filled with love, laughter and cherished memories.
Mr. Davis began his working career at Frank's Vending Service in Newbern, Tennessee, where he dedicated forty-one years of service before retiring as District Manager for Burch Foods. He was an avid gun collector who found great joy in his hobby and the history behind each piece. His passion for serving others extended into his community, where he was a dedicated member of the Newbern Methodist Church. He also served as Fire Chief for the City of Newbern Volunteer Fire Department for fifteen years and served his country in the Tennessee National Guard. His legacy of kindness and care for his family, friends and community will always be remembered.
Funeral services for Mr. Davis will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating this service will be Rev. Tyler Neeley. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Newbern, Tennessee. Visitation for Mr. Davis will be held on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.
He is survived by his wife, Linda King Davis of Newbern, Tennessee; one son, Mark Davis (Jennifer) of Newbern, Tennessee; one half brother, John Davis (Denise) of Mammoth Springs, Arkansas and he was "Papa" to his two grandchildren, Logan A. Davis and Loren K. Davis.
Honoring Mr. Davis as pallbearers will be Jay Thornton, Randall Norville, R. C. Hensley, Chris Sentell, David Pope, and Matt Sentell. Honorary pallbearers will be Tom Foster, Jimmy Anderson, Jimmy Michaels and William Grissom.
In lieu of flowers the family asked that memorial contributions be directed to the Newbern Methodist Church, P. O. Box # 72, Newbern, Tennessee 38059.
