Charles Michael Walker, 78, of the Bonicord community, met Jesus face to face Wednesday, April 27, 2022. After a lengthy illness and many complications, Mike passed away at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. He was the son of the late Charles and Evelyn Bradshaw Walker. Mike will be remembered by his family and friends for his love and dedication to serving God, his genuine love of people, and his leadership through church music in West Tennessee, Missouri, and Kentucky. Through his ministry, he could convey messages of love, hope, and life with his voice and share God's message to all who heard him. Those who live to cherish his memory are his wife, Peggy Miller Walker, of 55 years, with whom he shared his ministry and love of God, country, and people. He also leaves a son, Kurt Walker (Leigh Anne) of Dyersburg, daughter, Kelly Walker of Friendship, six grandchildren Bethany Langston (Andy), Conner Walker, Mary Katherine Walker (fiancé Quinton White), David Johnson (fiancé Megan Golden), Causton Johnson (Hailey), Anne Larrah Johnson, and two great-grandchildren, Piper Langston, and Hadley Johnson. Also surviving him is one sister, Grace Ann Lee (James) of Dyersburg.
Mike graduated from Dyersburg High School, attended Union University, and served in the U.S. Army. Mike worked in commercial advertising, men's clothing sales, and coaching special needs adults. He enjoyed his lifetime of work until his retirement in 2018. Mike was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and enjoyed raising, training, and riding horses. Mike also had a special love and talent for art, especially that of western and horse themes.
Celebration of Life services for Mr. Walker will be held at First Baptist Church, Dyersburg at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 30, 2022. Officiating this service will be Rev. Mike Hickman. Interment will follow in Miller's Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday, April 29, at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home in Newbern, Tennessee and from 10:00 am, at First Baptist Church, Dyersburg prior to the service.

Honoring Mr. Walker as pallbearers will be Tom Bell, Jr., Brad Baker, William Nichols, Will Nichols, Jim Putman, Dewayne Deal. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Larry Rogers Life Group, First Baptist Church Deacons and First Baptist Men's Chorale.
