Charles Laymon Emrich

 

Charles Laymon Emrich, 93, of Kenton, Tennessee died on Sunday, August 30, 2020, at Elmcroft Senior Living in Jackson, Tennessee.

 Born on December 5, 1926, in Tyronza, Arkansas, he was the son of the late William (Willie) H. Emrich and the late Ruth Orrell Emrich, who died when he was 3 years old.  His stepmother, the late Beatrice Perryman Emrich, loved him as her own son.

Mr. Emrich attended school in Tyronza, Arkansas, and served in the U.S. Army in World War II. Over his career he worked as a certified John Deere mechanic.

He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church Kenton, Tennessee serving as deacon, chairman of the deacons, Sunday school teacher, and other leadership roles.

He leaves his devoted wife of 73 years, Annie Mae Williams Emrich and one son, Charles William Emrich (Carol) of Jackson, Tennessee, two granddaughters Dr. Erin Chambers of Clarksville, Tennessee and Erica Teague (Jonathan) of Medina, Tennessee, and four great-granddaughters, Caroline and Abigail Chambers, Mary and Anna Teague. He is survived by two brothers, Bill Emrich of Union City, Tennessee and Joe Emrich of Livingston, Tennessee.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Perry Emrich of Union City, Tennessee.

Graveside service for Mr. Emrich will be 11 o’clock, Friday, September 4, at Sunnyside Cemetery in Kenton, Tennessee with Dr. Charles Pratt officiating.  Friends are asked to gather at the cemetery.  Due to the current pandemic and the family’s concern for the health and well-being of others, we request that everyone attending wear masks and follow social distancing.

Honorary pallbearers will be John Schoolfield, W. C. Tate, Jerry Kilburn, Floyd Yarbro, Mike Perryman, Dennis Littleton and member of the Joe Mac Warren Sunday School Class.
