Charles L. Dean, Sr., 83, of Jackson, Tennessee died on Sunday, February 4, 2024, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, Tennessee. Born Friday, August 6,1940, in Dyersburg, Tennessee. He was the son of the late W. A. Dean, Sr. and the late Lera Estelle Williamson Dean. 

Mr. Dean started his working career for his brother, Mr. Bill Dean, when he was fourteen years of age and continued his employment there for a number of years. He later worked as an electrical and mechanical technician for Sylvania and World Color Press. Mr. Dean proudly served his country in the United States Army and the Tennessee National Guard. Music has been an important part of Charles' life. In the late 1950's, he formed, what is called today, a "Rockabilly Band' known as Charles Dean and The Rondells. They recorded many songs and were very popular in Europe and Sweden. In the 1970's, he became the lead singer of a gospel quartet.  Mr. Dean was a dedicated member of the Love and Truth Church in Jackson, Tennessee, where he served as a greeter and was a member of the prayer team. He would never miss an opportunity to share his faith and witness to others. He was an avid fan of the Dyersburg Trojans and the Tennessee Vols.

Funeral services for Mr. Dean will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 10, 2024, in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating this service will be Pastor Chris Smith and family members. Internment will follow in Poplar Grove Cemetery in Newbern, Tennessee. Visitation will be held on Friday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of sixty years, Brenda Dyer Dean of Jackson, Tennessee; two sons, Charles L. "Chuckie" Dean , Jr. (Tracey) of Newbern, Tennessee and Christopher Lee Dean of Dyersburg, Tennessee; one daughter, Leanne Burkhead (David) of Pauline, South Carolina; two brothers, Bob Dean (Eleanor) of Dyersburg, Tennessee and Jerry Dean of Dyersburg, Tennessee; one sister, Peggy Wilson of Dyersburg, Tennessee;  he was ""Grand-Daddy" and "Paw-Paw" to his six grandchildren, Jordan Wilson(Seth), Laurin Willoughby (Cody), Lindsey Dean, Dylan Dean (Courtney), Kylan Dean (Madison) and Joshua Dean and eight great-grandchildren, Livia Willoughby, Lailee Willoughby, Morgan Wilson, Nolan Wilson, Adalee Dean, Lera Willoughby, Oaklyn Dean, Tatum Dean and soon to join the family, Livi Kate Dean. Mr. Dean leaves a host of nieces, nephews and extended family who loved him dearly.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, W. A. Dean, Jr. and John Dean; two sisters, Dorothy Johnson and Margaret Bane and daughter-in-law, Michelle Dean.

Honoring Mr. Dean as pallbearers will be David Burkhead, Cody Willoughby, Jordan Wilson, Laurin Willoughby, Lindsey Dean, Dylan Dean, Kylan Dean and Joshua Dean.
