Carroll Wilson Shelton Obituary

Carroll Wilson Shelton, 74, of Newbern, Tennessee died on Monday, March 15, 2021, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, Tennessee.

Born Tuesday, May 7, 1946 in Nashville, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Ben Shelton and the late Sarah Elizabeth Williams Shelton. He was a retired employee of Wis-Pak, Inc. and was  presently employed  by the City of Newbern.  Mr. Shelton was a member of Emmaus Baptist Church and a former member of the Newbern Fire Department. He proudly served his country in the Tennessee National Guard.

Funeral services for Mr. Shelton will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 20, 2021 in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating this service will be Rev. James Hooper and Mr. Chuck Morgan. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Newbern, Tennessee with Rev. Keith Shelton officiating. Visitation for Mr. Shelton will be held on Friday, March 19, 2021 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.

He leaves to cherish his memory, one son, Jason Shelton of Halls, Tennessee; one daughter, Amy Brown (Terry) of Newbern, Tennessee and he was "Papaw" to six grandchildren, Preston Shelton, Jeremiah Brown, Maddy Brown, Eva Brown, Crystal Brown and Brandon Brown and three great-grandchildren, Eli Brown, Ellie Fowle and Elijah Peel.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of fifty two years, Linda Ladd "Poodle" Shelton and three brothers, Jimmy Shelton, Bill Shelton and Ronnie Shelton.

Honoring Mr. Shelton as pallbearers will be Jeremiah Brown, Bryan McBride, Ricky Shelton, Bill Berry, Doug Tyler, Joe Peevyhouse, Jay Williams and Terry Brown. Honorary pallbearers will be James Murphy, John Poor and Thomas Shelton.
