Carolyn R. Vaughn Obituary

Carolyn R. Vaughn, 86, of Gates, Tennessee, died on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. She was survived by her husband of nearly 65 years, Bobby Ray Vaughn of Gates, Tennessee; three children Angela Vaughn of Halls, Tennessee, Jennifer (Late Rev. Wendell) Smith of Gates, Tennessee, and Brian (Jenny) Vaughn of Gates, Tennessee; four grandchildren Shelby (Brett) Cross, Dr. Dalton Gean, Layla Vaughn, and Corey (Marlee) Smith; three great grandchildren Caroline Cross, Rhett Cross, and Everly Smith, and two sisters Joyce Weaver and Ellen Griggs.

Mrs. Vaughn was preceded in death by her parents, Rommie and Lena Roberts; two brothers Rommie Roberts Jr. and Roger Roberts; one sister Shirley Roberts.

Mrs. Vaughn was a former employee of Ben Franklin, a switch board operator at Bell South, a bookkeeper at Gates Gin Company and BV's Electronics. The job that she loved the most was being a full time Wife, Mother, and Grandmother. She was a member of Gates United Methodist Church, former member of the Gates Home Demonstration Club and a Meals on Wheels Volunteer. She loved cooking, jigsaw puzzles, bird watching, and beautiful plants.

A Celebration of Life Visitation for Mrs. Vaughn will be held from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM on Friday, November 17, 2023, at Gates United Methodist Church, located at 198 Huntingdon Street, Gates, Tennessee 38037. A private family committal service will be held at Gates Cemetery in Gates, Tennessee at a later date, with Pastor Martha Davison officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Gates United Methodist Church, 198 Huntingdon Street, Gates, Tennessee 38037, LeBonheur Children's Hospital, P. O. Box # 41817, Memphis, Tennessee 38174-1817 or a charity of the donor's choice.
