Carolyn June Pope, 91, of Yorkville, Tennessee died on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at her residence.
Born Sunday, June 24, 1934, in Eaton, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Dee Dunagan and the late Mary Margaret Summar Dunagan
For more than thirty-five years, Miss Carolyn worked as a customer service representative for the Yorkville Telephone Co-Op. A devoted member of the Yorkville Church of Christ, Miss Carolyn’s faith guided her life. She was proud to be a lifelong citizen of Yorkville and deeply supported her community. Above all, Miss Carolyn cherished her family. She married the love of her life, Joe, in 1954, and were loving parents to Franklin and Carol Anne, and nothing brought her more joy than her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Pope will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 25, 2025, in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating this service will be Mr. Tim Fuqua. Interment will follow in Yorkville Cemetery. Visitation for Mrs. Pope will be held on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.
She leaves to cherish her memory, one son, Franklin Pope (Dawn) of Yorkville, Tennessee; one daughter, Carol Anne Austin (Jeff) of Newbern, Tennessee and she was "Mamaw" to her five grandchildren, Justin Pope (Emily) of Yorkville, Tennessee, Ryan Pope (Amanda) of Yorkville, Tennessee, Rebecca Hendon (Christopher) of Nolensville, Tennessee, Hannah Austin of Newbern, Tennessee and Joseph Tillman Austin (Becky) of Hobbs, New Mexico and six great-grandchildren, Bennett Pope, Arly Joanne Pope, Addison Pope, Charlotte "Charley" Pope, Margaret "Maggie" Hendon and Carter Zalmanek Austin. She also is survived by one nephew, Barry Dunagan and one niece, Randi Carol Dunagan.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-eight years, Joe Pope and one brother, Franklin D. "Buddy" Dunagan.
Honoring Mrs. Pope as pallbearers will be Ryan Pope, Justin Pope, Tillman Austin, Christopher Hendon, Jeff Austin and David Allmon. Honorary pallbearers will be Bennett Pope and Gene Allmon.
