Carnell Medlock, 100, of Newbern, Tennessee, died on Monday, June 16, 2025, at Maple Ridge Assisted Living in Dyersburg, Tennessee.
Born Saturday, July 12, 1924, in Cave City, Arkansas, she was the daughter of the late William Robert Perkey and the late Faye Lizzie Eason Perkey.
She married the love of her life, Tommy Orvil Medlock, in 1949. The two shared 68 wonderful years together before his passing in 2017, building a home rooted in faith, family, and love.
Mrs. Medlock was an exceptional cook, and her chocolate pies were a family favorite. She had a true love for plants and flowers, both inside her home and outside in her yard, where her nurturing touch could be seen in every bloom.
To her grandchildren, she was affectionately known as “Grandma Next Door,” until she moved — earning the new title of “Grandma Across the Street,” a name given with love and laughter that perfectly captured her special place in their hearts.
Mrs. Medlock was a member of Glendale Church of Christ.
Funeral services for Mrs. Medlock will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 20, 2025, in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating the service will be Mr. John Jones. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Newbern, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Friday, June 20, 2025, at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.
She leaves to cherish her memory, three sons, James Medlock (Debra) of Cincinnati, Ohio, Rickey Medlock of St. Louis, Missouri, and Bobby Medlock of Maryland Heights, Missouri; one daughter, Dorinda King (Daryl) of Newbern, Tennessee; ten grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Orvil Medlock; seven brothers, Conyard Perkey, Olen Perkey, Odis Perkey, B.F. Perkey, Glen Perkey, J.W. Perkey, and O.C. Perkey and two daughters-in-law, Betty Medlock and Rhonda Medlock.
Honoring Mrs. Medlock as pallbearers will be James Medlock, Bobby Medlock, Cole Horner, Zach King, John Jones and Bryan Bush.
