Carlton Carroll Obituary

Carlton Carroll, 74, of Newbern, Tennessee, died on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at his residence in Newbern, Tennessee.

Born Sunday, January 14, 1951, in Dyersburg, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Frank Carroll and the late Rosetta Conder Carroll.

Carlton was the retired owner of Carroll Construction, where he dedicated many years of hard work, craftsmanship, and leadership. Known for his strong work ethic and steady, dependable nature, he built not only structures but also lasting relationships with those he worked alongside.

A man who appreciated the simple joys of life, Carlton enjoyed woodworking and spending quiet days fishing. He cherished spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, finding his greatest happiness in their company. One of his favorite pastimes was riding through the Mississippi River Bottoms, especially with his beloved wife by his side—those peaceful rides were moments he treasured deeply.

Funeral services for Mr. Carroll will be held at 12:30 PM on Saturday, December 6, 2025, in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating this service will Bro Jackie Dean Goad. Interment will follow in Church Grove Cemetery in Newbern, Tennessee. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM and on Saturday from 11:30 AM until 12:30 PM.

He leaves to cherish his memory; two  daughters, Carla Carroll  of Newbern, Tennessee and Jennifer Butler (Brian) of Newbern, Tennessee; one brother, Billy Carroll of Dyer, Tennessee; three sisters, Mary Carroll of Dyersburg, Tennessee, Patricia Moore of Dyersburg, Tennessee and Maxine McCaig of Dyersburg, Tennessee and he was "Papa" to his eight grandchildren, Buster Hollis (Emily). Courtney Hollis (Billy), Jacub Hinson (Carlie), Lain Wilson (Quoi), Carley Hinson, Jonathan Putman, Bo Butler (Addie) and Briar Butler and twelve great-grandchildren. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, of fifty-four years, Reggie Barham Carroll; one daughter, Melanie Dawn Carroll, one brother, James Arthur Carroll and one sister, Bobbie Sue Morrow.

Honoring Mr. Carroll as pallbearers will be Buster Hollis, Lain Wilson, Jacub Hinson, Jonathan Putman, Ronnie Wilson and Billy Carroll. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Barham and Billy Jack Goad.
