Cainan Ryan Thorne, 8, of Newbern, Tennessee died on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at West Tennessee Healthcare-Dyersburg Hospital in Dyersburg, Tennessee.
Born April 28, 2016, in Denver, Colorado, he was the son of Chad Donald Thorne and Renee Michelle Brubaker.
Cainan was an energetic and beloved 8-year-old boy whose bright spirit touched the lives of so many. Cainan was a third-grade student at Newbern Elementary School, where he was loved by his teacher, Mrs. Kaley, and his classmates. He was a wonderful friend, always ready with a smile, a laugh, or a kind word.
A natural athlete, Cainan played basketball, soccer, football, and baseball—each sport bringing him joy, making it nearly impossible for him to choose a favorite. Whether on the field or the court, he was a dedicated teammate and a true sportsman, encouraging those around him with his positivity and enthusiasm.
Beyond sports, Cainan loved playing video games and spending time with his family and friends. His energy was boundless, and his heart was full of kindness, always making others feel included and valued.
Cainan’s bright light will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Though his time with us was far too short, his love, laughter, and unforgettable spirit will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, teammates, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Rest in peace, sweet Cainan. You will always be our MVP.
