CW4 (Ret) Michael R. Lester, 84, of Tiptonville, Tennessee died on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at his residence in Tiptonville, Tennessee, surrounded by his family.
Born Saturday, July 1, 1939, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, he was the son of the late Harry Francis Lester and the late Carolyn Johnson Lester. Michael proudly served his country as a Counterintelligence Agent with the United States Army. He was a lifetime member of the VFW. He loved Irish music and enjoyed singing with the Barbershop group Gentlemen of Sound in Missouri. He was Episcopalian with memberships at St. Lukes in Racine, Wisconsin and St. James in Union City, Tennessee.
A Celebration of Life service for Mr. Lester will be held on October 28, 2023, at noon; at St James Episcopal Church; 422 E Church Street; Union City, TN 38261. The Reverend Chuck McMillen, rector will be presiding.
He is survived by his wife, Kasandra Hugger Lester of Tiptonville, Tennessee; one daughter, Carolyn Denise Lester-Carew (Kevin); three sons, John Michael (Jamie), Thomas Roger (Amanda), Darrell, D. Richard and Timothy Roger (Stacy); his bonus children, Fares, Eduardo, Mistie, Amy and Lizzie; fourteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchild; special nephew, Sean Lester, numerous cousins and his faithful companions, Sissy and Thumper.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Richard and Timothy and one brother, John Dennis Lester.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Misty and Deanna at Volunteer Healthcare, Joi, Jessica and Christy at Baptist Hospice, Richard and David at Fresenius Dialysis, Dr. Caruso, Dr. Hopla and Dr. Hotchkiss for the love and care that they have shown to their family.
The family asks that memorial contributions be directed to the charity of donor's choice.
